When you purchase fresh local flowers you are supporting local growers in your immediate community.  Here are some tips on how to properly care for them after you get them home. If you know you are going to pick up flowers it might be a great idea to bring something to put them in to keep them hydrated on the drive home.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUT FLOWERS

FRESH FLOWERS MUST BE KEPT OUT OF THE SUN for optimum vase life.

The benefit of fresh local flowers is a longer vase life than imported flowers you see at the food store.  These weren’t shipped without water thousands of miles from an international grower. You have access to many varieties that you can’t buy commercially.  I grow the flowers I am selling from seed started way back in the winter with loving care.

Pre-Orders are always available for pick up at my garden.  Mason Jar Bouquets (Small or Large), Wrapped Bouquets (Small or Large) or Bud Vases

Use a clean vase and Change the water daily

Flower Food is helpful (or a drop of hydrogen peroxide) All my mason jars bouquets include flower food in the water

Pull any dead or dying flowers immediately

If any flower starts to wilt you can give it a snip and pop it back in the water and it should rehydrate.  If not, pull it.

FYI: Flowers will wilt at different rates.  All flowers have a different vase life. Bouquets will reflect what is blooming that week.

You can always change your container to a smaller one.
